Hello North Texas Chapter Members,

Hope everyone has a smooth transition into November!! The year end is shaping up to be a busy one! Thanks to Jake Opperman with TXFB and the NTIASIU for presenting at our last meeting!

We hope to announce in the next few days a fund raising campaign for a children's group. Details need to be finalized, and we hope to have those specifics early next week. The NTIASIU is also in the process of planning our Christmas Mixer.  We hope to have it on Wednesday, December 4, 2024.  We are working on a few locations and believe a location can be settled on by next week as well so please be on the lookout for those emails!

There will be no  CE presentation for November as the NTIASIU is happy to announce that we are partnering up with Central Insurance Company & NICB for Texas Truth - Identifying and Combating Medical Build-Up Medical Seminar on Friday, December 6, 2024. The NTIASIU will be providing CE credits for the 6 presenter line-up.

There will be 6 presenters and 7 hours of CE credit will be available.  This Medical Seminar is beneficial to Claims Adjusters, Insurance Defense Attorneys, Law Enforcement, and SIU Professionals.The seminar will take place at:

Parker Chiropractic College
2540 Walnut Hill Ln.
Dallas, Texas 75229


The seminar will take place from 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM. Parker will conduct a campus tour along with a hands on demonstration of chiropractic equipment.  This initiative is to familiarize SIU and Law Enforcement in recognition and the correct usage of the equipment.  Registration is FREE and can be completed in the event calendar and here:

Geoff Keah presented a donation of just over $10,000 to the good people at the Assist the Officer Foundation from proceeds raised at the 2023 IASIU Annual Conference golf tournament.

A Texas Advisory Council on Arson Committee - State Fire Marshal's Association

A little history about ATAC (A Texas Advisory Council on Arson Committee). About three years ago, ATAC was transitioned from a standalone committee to the Texas Fire Marshal’s Association (TXFMA) as a subcommittee in an attempt to reach a greater audience as we combat arson. Since its inception in the late 1980’s, ATAC has been the State’s lead committee that distributes informational posters to local jurisdictions and assists in providing reward monies to confidential arson informants. ATAC’s main source of income all these years has been through donations from the insurance companies in Texas. 


The Mission for ATAC is: To Provide a broad-based resource drawn from the public and private sectors to serve the Texas Commission on Fire Protection, the Office of the State Fire Marshal, the Texas Department of Insurance and the public of the State of Texas. 


The primary duties: It shall be the duty of this committee to meet and communicate as often as needed in order to: Support the stated purposes of the TXFMA; Improve coordination and cooperation among fire departments, law enforcement agencies, insurance industry representatives, and other directly interested in fire and arson prevention; Contribute to knowledge about the control, detection, and prosecution of arson; Provide for the exchange of technical information and new developments about arson; Review laws and legislative proposal regarding arson and provide information relative to them as needed; Encourage high standards of professional conduct among fire and arson investigators; Communicate to the public the extent, severity, seriousness, and consequences of arson; and, Maintain the Arson Hotline Reward Program.
